Supernatural
I first learned of Supernatural when looking into Oculus Quest 2. My brother-in-law got one for Christmas, and I tried out a rock climbing game. It was so much more immersive than a Playstation VR that I knew I had to get one too. First thing I did was download the Supernatural app, and started up a free-two week trial. The premise was interesting; I found the gamification of a full-body workout so engaging and motivating. Workouts are Stretches, Boxing or Flow, and are Easy, Medium, Hard, or Pros Only.
Workouts are further broken down into genre of playlists or length of workouts; Stretches were short, 3-5minute guided sessions with one of the coaches. Boxing is fairly self-explanatory. Your controllers become boxing gloves, and you strike targets to the beat of the songs and duck and roll when prompted. The Flow workouts are challenging, and at first I struggled to get through I always preferred the boxing, as there was less bending and squatting. Here’s an example of a Flow workout:
And, here is a Boxing workout:
And a guided stretch with Head Coach Leanne:
Beyond workouts, Supernatural has a huge selection of meditation/mindfulness sessions, and 5-6 coaches(with guest coaches every now and again). Each workout starts with a 30-60s stretch with one of the coaches leading you through the movements. And, as was seen in the workouts above, the coaches give you pep talks during the workouts. A simple reminder to breathe, or to load up in preparation of a flurry of strikes is so refreshing.
Weekly Weigh-In
None this week. I believe the next blog post is the last, so I will have a final weigh-in and measurement next time. Additionally, a pictorial before/after!
