Over the last three months, I’ve made significant progress in my fitness journey. One of the key things I did was to commit to a schedule and work out during every Vancouver Canucks game. This helped me stay on track and maintain consistency in my workouts. As a result, I have made a lasting impact on my habits and my body. Since my initial goal was to create a lifestyle, not simply adhere to a diet or a fad, I would say that my project was a success.
Below is a range of images showing my body profile on January 15th, February 7th, and on April 1st. Unfortunately, the GIF I made with nice transitions from photo to photo won’t work when I upload it. It may be slight, but I am happy to see a difference in my face, arms, stomach, and hips. I am hoping to continue my healthy ways through practicum, despite the Canucks not making the playoffs(again) and their season coming to an end on April 13th.

I also made use of technology to track my progress, including devices like the Garmin Index smart scale, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, and S22 Ultra smartphone. By using these tools, I was able to see the changes happening in my body over time, which motivated me to keep going. Another thing that helped me personalize my workouts was using ChatGPT. This allowed me to create tailored workouts that targeted the areas I wanted to improve the most. It was useful to create workouts that I could do at home or while on campus. With an hour and a half break between classes on Mondays and Thursdays, what I could do was both limited by time but I had choices when it came to fitness equipment. The gym at home is a bit small:

To support my fitness goals, I also used supplements and saw the benefits they provided. For example, I used protein powder to help with muscle recovery and BCAAs to help with endurance during workouts. The products I use are also sweet despite being low calorie, which allows me to not feel FOMO for the tasty things.
Finally, I’ve seen some positive changes in my body over the last three months. I’ve noticed improvements in muscle tone, increased strength, and greater overall fitness. So, not just the physical slimming of parts of my body; I also feel good, I feel happy, I am not winded going up the three flights of stairs to the Grad Lounge in MacLaurin, which is a bonus. Seeing these small achievements has helped me stay motivated and continue pushing towards my next set of goals even when, from day-to-day, I couldn’t see a difference on the scale or in a photo.
Overall, committing to a schedule, using technology to track progress, personalizing workouts with ChatGPT, using supplements, and celebrating progress have all played a role in my fitness journey. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far and excited to see what I can achieve in the future.
